The 84-inch bulk water supply line near the University of Karachi has once again burst, causing significant flooding in over half of the residential area.Water has infiltrated homes within the university, leading to a flood-like situation.Residents reported that this pipeline supplies water to various neighborhoods across Karachi.

Despite numerous complaints and prior warnings, the relevant authorities have failed to take effective action.

Residents are calling for immediate repairs and alternative measures to avoid similar incidents in the future.

The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) CEO , has ordered urgent repair of the pipeline.

Moreover, the KWSC spokesperson announced that water pressure has been reduced to facilitate the necessary repair work.

Repairs are set to begin immediately following the reduction in water supply and will continue around the clock.During this period, water supply will be partially suspended in various areas, including Jamshed Town, Jinnah Town, Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, Pak Colony, Golimar, Sher Shah, Old City Area, Landhi, Korangi, and PAF Base Masroor.

Currently, the city receives a total of 650 million gallons per day (MGD) of water. However, the repair work will result in a daily shortfall of 250 MGD.

Despite these challenges, the spokesperson assured that the city will still receive 400 MGD of water as usual.
