Police ASI killed, constable injured near Faizabad
A police assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was killed and a constable injured in an ambush near metro bus station in Faizabad, sources said .According to initial reports, ASI Sudher Ahmed Abbasi and constable Jaffer Jahangir were on their way to conduct a raid when unidentified robbers opened fire on them before fleeing.
Sources said that both policemen were affiliated with the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of the Islamabad police. said that raids were under way to arrest the culprits.
Meanwhile, Islamabad police spokesperson said that the injured officer is under treatment. He said that the Islamabad Police Inspector General has directed that the officer be provided with the best possible medical care.
Meanwhile, armed suspects opened fire on a police raiding party in the Bangial area within the jurisdiction of Rawat police station, a police spokesperson said.
During the exchange of fire, a highly dangerous and wanted suspect, Waheed alias Waheedi involved in drug trafficking, murder, kidnapping, and extortion was killed.
Two of his accomplices were arrested in injured condition, while others managed to escape, the spokesperson added.
The suspects reportedly engaged the police in gunfire for nearly two hours.
Waheed alias Waheedi had a criminal record involving dozens of cases related to murder, kidnapping, drug trafficking, and other serious crimes. He was also wanted for multiple extortion complaints involving threats with firearms, the spokesperson said.
A few weeks ago, the slain suspect had allegedly abducted three individuals, including a woman, and circulated an obscene video, the spokesperson stated.
The raid was carried out under the supervision of SP Saddar by teams from Rawat police and Elite Commandos.
According to police spokesperson, several teams had been working for weeks under the supervision of SSP Operations to arrest Waheed alias Waheedi. During a previous attempt, the raiding party had also come under fire from the suspects.
City Police Officer (CPO) commended SP Saddar, ASP Saddar, SHO Rawat, the Rawat police team, and the Elite Force, the spokesperson said.
“No one will be allowed to become a symbol of fear for citizens,” CPO said, adding that those who threaten public safety cannot escape the law.
