Separate police stations, courts for power thieves
Preparing to put another burden on the public after the high electricity bills, the government has decided to establish separate police stations and courts for electricity thieves.
8,769 police stations will be established for electricity thieves across the country. The 497 courts established for electricity thieves will have a staff of 634 people.
In the first phase, police stations and courts will be established in Lahore, DG Khan, Hyderabad, Larkana Division, Bannu, Peshawar, Mardan, and Quetta.
29 divisions will be completed in the second phase. The new system will cost Rs10.7 billion annually, which will be borne by the people.
The distribution companies will collect the expenses from the people. The federal government will give more than Rs10 billion for the first time for new police stations and courts. The costs of catching and punishing electricity thieves will also be collected from the consumers.
