32 killed, 63 injured in beach bomb attack in Somalia
At least 32 people have been killed and 63 others injured following a terrorist bomb attack at a beach in Mogadishu, Somalia.
The explosion occurred late Friday as visitors were swimming at a popular resort. Social media footage captured the scene, showing victims' bodies on the beach while bystanders fled for safety.
According to police, one attacker detonated a bomb, while three others were killed by security forces. A fourth attacker was apprehended alive.
Former prime minister Hassan Ali Khaire expressed his condolences, condemning the attack and noting that its timing during a busy night at the beach highlights the terrorists' hostility towards the Somali people. The al Qaeda-affiliated group al Shabaab, which previously controlled large areas of Somalia before recent government counteroffensives, has a history of claiming responsibility for such attacks. Despite being pushed back, the militants remain capable of carrying out significant assaults on government, commercial, and military targets.
