The Senate has passed the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention Implementation Bill.

Under the bill passed by the Senate, biological weapons will be banned in Pakistan. No person will manufacture, store, transport, import, or export lethal weapons.

It is also reported that the bill will apply to every Pakistani and every person who commits a crime within Pakistani territory or against Pakistan. The bill will also apply to foreigners present in Pakistani territory.

Under the bill, no person will acquire such material or technology that is used in making biological weapons, manufacturing, storing, or transferring toxin weapons will be punishable by 25 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs10 million.

In addition, the central authority will permit its use for peaceful purposes.
