KP govt to book Islamabad IG over attacks on PTI workers
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to file an FIR against the Islamabad Inspector General (IG) Ali Nasir Rizvi following incidents during protests in the capital.
The decision was made during a cabinet meeting chaired by KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
Cabinet members discussed the excessive use of force during PTI protests in Islamabad, including the use of tear gas shells and violence against PTI workers.
The cabinet also approved filing a writ petition against the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Additionally, Provincial Minister for Information, Barrister Dr. Muhammad Ali Saif, told journalists at the Peshawar Press Club that an FIR would be lodged against the IG Islamabad for the attack on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House.
Barrister Saif explained that during the incident, vehicles and furniture were damaged, government officials were harassed, and families of MPAs were subjected to violence.
The KP government was committed to filing a case against the Islamabad IG in this regard.
He also pointed out that legal action had been taken in the past for similar incidents, such as a case registered in Lahore against those who attempted to stop former Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa's vehicle, as well as the case filed in Pakistan regarding the murder of MQM leader Dr. Imran Farooq in London.
